Director’s Statement
"'Years ago, I had a small ensemble in North Hollywood called ‘The Artist’s Den.’ We gathered to develop our craft. Unfortunately, it was impossible to sustain without capitol. I was working as a personal trainer/massage therapist, while trying to figure-out how to break into VoiceOver.
I’ve come a long way since then. My dream of making a career as an actor came to fruition and now, years later I’m combining my new skill set (cinematography) with my roots (acting) to create narrative projects.
A couple of months back, a friend asked, “Why don’t you start an acting class for all of these narrative ideas you have?” I remembered my old dream of having ‘The Artist’s Den.’ Now that I’m a cinematographer, seeing a project from start to finish is much more feasible than it was a decade ago. So, I started a class and created “Peculiar Encounters at the Drive In,” starring my students. Some of the cast are seasoned actors, while others are brand-new and had only been in class for a month before this was filmed.
It is edgy and a bit out of the box, so if it’s not your taste, I completely understand. For me, it’s an opportunity to film and give actors the opportunity to act. It explores taboo topics. It explores controversial moments. It’s experimental. It's art."
